Life Happens
I got an email from a client this morning inquiring about my cancellation policies when it comes to children's portraits. I thought I would take the opportunity to post a picture of Brendan (because I'm obviously always looking for an excuse to do that) today.

Here we have the lovely Bren. Note the giant bloody gashes from a very recent stumble. If you look closely, you will see the copious amounts of drool which usually means we have a new tooth about to make its debut. (Not to mention the red eyes and a crocodile tear, both probably due to the aforementioned tooth.)

Needless to say, being a mom only adds to being an understanding photographer. I love working with kids. One of the reasons I feel this way is because they constantly keep me on my toes. You just never know what you're going to get from day-to-day. So never, EVER hesitate to reschedule a portrait session due to the trials and tribulations of being a kid. I can always Photoshop out a small scuff, but Photoshopping out a bad mood is next to impossible.

The Last Beach Sojourn
I was so excited for our last beach trip of the year because I knew that this would be the first time that Brendan was old enough to know what was going on. Having that said, you may notice that practically all the pictures I took this trip were of him. I guess I find him to be a more interesting subject than sand and driftwood.

We made a pit stop in the Redwoods on the drive there to stretch our legs and take some pictures (of course).

Someone was pretty excited to be out of the car...

...and far from excited when we said he had to get back in it.

When we got to the house, we had trouble keeping him off of the deck.

We figured that was our cue to let him work off some baby energy in the sand.

This is my favorite photo of the trip:

Grandma brought tons of shovels and pails so that he could get to work.

Husband was feeling a bit romantic...

I enlisted the help of a large piece of driftwood to get a shot of us. We really need to hire a photographer.

Life doesn't get much better than this.

Announcement Special
I'm running a baby announcement special this fall, so if you or somebody you know is expecting a new arrival soon, please pass on the good news.

To make life simple for new mommies the special includes: a 1-2 hour session in your home, 25 announcements to send to loved ones, a framed 8x10 print, and online proofing of images.

Here is a delightful example featuring baby Simon:
